Ok, now America has a new target. When rap music was only heard in basements and on the street c
orner no one cared. As soon as it started making billions, now the world wants to listen. The truth is, the industry only sells what the people buy. America is obsessed with gangsters and criminals. That's why the Soprano's is so successful. 50 cent was not the first gangster in the world, he is just one of the smartest. He was able to capitilize on his success. Many other artists had the same chance. LL cool j, Ja rule, both of these rap artist were very popular at one point. Neither ever made 80 million in one year. Something 50 cent accomplished on his first album.

Ok, whats your point?

50 cent is not to blame. The suits in the major label offices are. Their the one's that make the final decision. 50 cent does not have the power to decide what plays on the radio. He only makes music that he thinks will sell based on past experience. If the youth decided to stop buying it, 50 cent would either change or retire. The record label executives decide what music goes on the radio. The youth has to choose between what they put out and decide wether they want to buy it or not.
There should be an industry panel where the youth can actually decide what type of music they want to hear and vote on it. I don't think the youth really wants to hear all this gangster rap, but they have no choice. That's the music on the radio. Let's give the youth a choice and make more versatile music. Let's expand our taste beyond gangsterism and explore other areas of life.

If the youth was given more choices I think they would choose the right thing. Lets work hard to make quality music and change the world at the same time.
