Is hip hop dying? I get this question all the time so I thought it would be a great way to address this.
Hip hop is not even close to dying. The reason why so many people are saying this is because their units are not selling. Most artists that are actually selling units have no complaints. Flo-Rida currently has a number one single and you never hear him say anything negatively about hip hop culture. Lil Wayne is another chart topping artist that only has positive things to say about hip hop. Now is hip hop dominating the Billboard charts like it used too, yes because the top songs on iTunes are hip hop singles. So why are there so many people saying hip hop is dying and hip hop is dead. Well the competition is stiff and if you have an artist that can't make the quality music that will sell all they can do is complain about the state of it and point the finger. It is easier to point the finger than to admit that you music is not good enough.

What is happening to hip hop is going on in the entire music industry. The transition to digital selling is what the world is going through right now. People have to catch up with the times and then and only then music sales will get back on point. In the US there are many people that don't buy CD's anymore, but they haven't totally made the change to downloading music. Companies should and have to learn how to make more money using music in advertisements and other things. That's the only way things will change in the music industry.
